The CASAHL Analyzer for Lotus Notes & Domino Applications (Analyzer) is the first component in CASAHL’s DART suite for Lotus products. Analyzer uses data provided by the DART Crawler to analyze the complexity, scale, and usage of each application and assign an optimization recommendation to each application. Once the analysis has been completed Analyzer provides a series of reports enterprises can use to plan optimization projects for Lotus Notes& Domino systems. In typical deployments, Analyzer can remove up to 90% of existing Notes applications from maintenance or migration consideration; consolidation cost savings alone can often justify the entire migration project.

The Analyzer reports generated after CASAHL’s transition planners identify high-value migration opportunities consist of a PowerPoint summary report, which is suitable for high-level executive presentations, detailed reports in Microsoft Excel, and a DART Dashboard site suitable for rationalization and optimization planning activities among users, managers, and developers. Enterprises can put these reports to use creating and implementing migration plans with DART for Notes.

Features:

  • Analysis Across the Enterprise: Analyzer’s ability to compile data from multiple instances of Crawler across varying content systems makes the collection and organization of piecemeal information a simple task, and supports cross-enterprise analysis that promotes enterprise-wide application optimization.

  • Significant Opportunities for Optimization: Analyzer’s key function is to minimize the number of legacy applications and content sources that need to be maintained or migrated. To that end it suggests the elimination of obvious candidates such as inactive applications, replicas, and mail templates, while flagging Notes-specific databases for modernization and migration via CASAHL’s Application Recomposition Service. Analyzer also employs an optimized consolidation algorithm to group applications that are similar in design together (even if the applications are not based on a common template), dramatically reducing the number of unique application designs that need to be recomposed.

  • Migration Effort Estimates: Analyzer assigns complexity and scale ratings to each application based on analysis performed on important application attributes such as forms, views, scripts, document types, etc., to assist in migration planning. These ratings include metadata, access control, sharing semantics, and more – Analyzer allows for the retention of full source content fidelity.

  • Recommended Actions for Notes Applications: Analyzer assigns each Notes application to be migrated to the Microsoft platform a recommended course of action, such as mapping it to an existing solution, converting the design, or discarding the application due to low usage, to ensure peak migration efficiency.

  • Recommended Migration Targets: Analyzer examines each application and recommends a specific Microsoft platform target based on application-specific characteristics. The targets can include SharePoint, InfoPath, .NET/SQL Server, and workflow. These migration recommendations can all be directly supported by ecKnowledge, usually with no low-level programming.

Analyzer for Lotus Notes & Domino is most effective when used in concert with the DART Dashboard for Lotus Notes & Domino. Feel free to contact us for more information or download the datasheet to learn more.
