Got a jar of coins
at home? Tired of wrapping and rolling your coins? The Coinstar® Network
consists of self-service coin counting machines located at the front entrances
of leading supermarkets nationwide. The Coinstar machines count shoppers'
accumulated coins and dispense a voucher that can be exchanged in the
store for cash or groceries. manufactures and manages machines that turn
loose change into cash vouchers.
With a network of 8,500 machines available to125
million consumers in 46 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, and
the United Kingdom, the cornerstone of Coinstar’s success is accurate
daily reporting of millions of coins. The company needed a technology
solution that would quickly provide access to accurate accounting information,
allow them to use an existing enterprise infrastructure, and allow employees to work in their application
of choice.
CASAHL Replic-Action provided the means to transfer
information from Coinstar's enterprise system to forms that the entire
company can access. This eliminated the need to purchase additional enterprise
system licenses and the technological difficulties of deploying custom
applications. Coinstar is now able to see concise summaries of machine
reporting data and financial transactions, and the data allows for faster
and more informed decisions. Employees are able to work within an environment
they are comfortable using, and the company does not need to train users
on a new application.
"Replic-Action was very easy to use," said Rick Bryant, Coinstar Application Developer. "The learning curve was minimal, and it doesn't take a lot of time to implement a solution once a problem or need is identified."
