CASAHL Expands Highly Successful Program with Microsoft to Optimize Lotus Notes Application Environments

Service offers customers free, in-depth evaluation, recommendations, and proof of concept project to showcase coexistence and migration possibilities between Lotus Notes® and Microsoft® collaboration platforms

SAN RAMON, CA, February 8, 2006 — CASAHL Technology, Inc. today announced the expansion of its alliance as part of the Microsoft Lotus Notes Compete Program (“Power Play”). Under this agreement, customers are being offered complimentary analysis of their IBM® Lotus Notes® and Domino collaborative application environment, along with recommendations for migration or coexistence between Lotus Notes and the Microsoft collaboration platform. Qualified customers are also eligible to participate, free of charge, in a proof of concept project to integrate, extend, or migrate two or three of their Lotus Notes/Domino collaborative applications to the Microsoft collaboration platform. This twelve-month-old program, co-sponsored by CASAHL and Microsoft, has been rated as highly successful worldwide by both customers and partners, with over 50 major wins for Microsoft, prompting the sponsoring companies to extend and expand the program in 2006.

According to John Roth, Microsoft US Sub Manager for Notes Compete, “Microsoft is sponsoring this program to help customers better assess their current collaboration environment and identify areas for improvement. The program provides customers with a comprehensive inventory and analysis of their Lotus Notes/Domino applications and a recommended disposition for the future of each application. This helps customers to make better decisions regarding what to do with their Lotus Notes application environment, with options including server consolidation, migration and/or coexistence with the Microsoft collaboration platform.”

Analysis is performed by consultants from CASAHL Technology. Says Roth, “We are continuing our alliance and this program with CASAHL because CASAHL has a long history of providing industry-leading tools for analysis, migration and coexistence. CASAHL also has a strong reputation within the Lotus Notes community and strong credibility with Lotus Notes customers. In addition to this, CASAHL has a deep understanding of both IBM and Microsoft technologies.”

Following the analysis and recommendation phase, most companies continue with the next phase, which is a complimentary proof of concept project (POC), using CASAHL ecKnowledge®, the company's flagship product, to implement the recommendations resulting from the analysis. Since 1993, CASAHL has specialized in developing non-intrusive tools with strong security for analysis, integration, extension, and migration of Lotus Notes/Domino and Microsoft collaborative applications. With its wizard-based user interface and robust server architecture, CASAHL ecKnowledge simplifies the process of integrating or migrating between Lotus Notes/Domino and Microsoft collaborative applications (such as SharePoint®, InfoPath®, Groove®, Office, and .NET).

With analysis and POC phases completed, the customer will be equipped with data, facts, and a roadmap listing the recommended disposition for each remaining Lotus Notes application. In most cases, implementation of the roadmap is carried out by CASAHL's certified partners, using CASAHL ecKnowledge software. Typical tasks include discarding unused applications, consolidating duplicated applications, and re-engineering selected applications to run on Microsoft products, such as SharePoint, InfoPath, SQL Server, and .NET. In this way, the Power Play program offers opportunities for Microsoft and CASAHL partners as well as customers.

“This program enables partners to respond promptly to customer requests for evaluation and recommendation services. It has significantly reduced the turnaround time for analysis and POC development, which is key to showcasing the various coexistence and migration possibilities between Lotus Notes and Microsoft collaboration platforms,” says Michelle Chua, VP of Business Development at CASAHL Technology, who oversees this program. “We are anticipating many more IT stakeholders taking advantage of this program to assist them in deciding the roadmap for their Lotus Notes application environments.”
